The Elijah Lovejoy Society of St. Louis, Missouri and its president, Robert W. Tabscott, are proud to announce the unveiling of American Mosaic, an educational website, which will explore the contributions of Native American’s Blacks, Whites and other nationalities in the evolution of what we know as the American Experience. The goal of Mosaic’s is to fill a gap, perhaps a chasm in the education of students, teachers and the public at large, in the values of the multi-cultural traditions that have shaped this country’s heritage. udents, teachers and the public at large, in the values of the multi-cultural traditions that have shaped this country’s heritage. We see our website as an Interpreter’s House – Sidewalks Into History, which introduces visitors to people, places and events that reveal our rich and diverse history.
A major focus is a history of Missouri and Illinois and how the two states contributed to the growth of our nation. Pioneer adventures passed through these parts on their way to the western sea, many settled here and left their stamp on the face of the land. These are stories to be told, with the advent of this website we hope to assist teachers to integrate this multi-cultural material into their classrooms thereby providing an appreciation of the development of our country, a country we all share for America is all the things we are in the course of this adventure.
Those of us who have worked to bring this website to life hope when you visit you will not only learn but enjoy the experience. There will always be something new to explore and we believe you will return often to the site often. We invite you to email us at amermosaic@gmail.com with your comments.
